ABOUT

Nepal Picture Library

Nepal Picture Library (NPL) is a digital photo archive run by photo.circle that strives to document an inclusive history of the Nepali people by encouraging families and institutions to contribute their photos and stories to the archive. Since its inception in 2011, NPL has collected over 70,000 photographs from different parts of Nepal. NPL works with educators to create curriculum based on this material, and take alternative and counter-histories into classrooms across Nepal. Through public exhibitions, publications, talks, discussions and presentations, NPL attempts to create regular opportunities for the public as well as scholars, mainstream media and other visual practitioners to engage with and contribute to the archive.
